What is the goal of individual counselling?

Individual counselling aims to increase a person’s sense of well-being by promoting self-awareness and encouraging action steps that are realistic and personal to the individual. Individual counselling can be used to provide support for a variety of issues, including symptoms like depression, anxiety, Addiction of any manifestation, marital and relational issues, chronic pain, and/or general wellness and self-exploration.

Who is individual counselling for?

This program is for anyone age 12+ who is interested in learning more about themselves and/or who is struggling with symptoms and experiences that are creating difficulties in their lives.

How is individual counselling delivered?

At HUM, we use a range of techniques based on experiential relationship building, dialogue, communication and behavior change that are designed to improve the mental health of a client or patient and improve relationships with others. All of our healthcare providers offer individual counselling and work together to provide complementary support.

When can someone start individual counselling, and are there any prerequisites?

Anyone who is interested in individual counselling can contact the HUM office by phone or e-mail and can get going with services as soon as they are able to. There is no referral process and no wait list for services at HUM.

What are the costs?

Individual counselling is $200/session with the Registered Psychologists or Social Worker Sessions with the medical doctor are covered by Alberta Health Care
