Couple & Family Counselling/Psychotherapy

How is the program delivered

At HUM, you have the option for each individual to undergo a comprehensive assessment to determine needs, diagnoses, and their current status, or start with couple therapy and family counseling with one of our providers.

At HUM, couple therapy and family counseling draw from a variety of models and incorporate aspects of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Rational Emotive Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy.

Couple and family counselling is often short term. You may need only a few sessions to help you weather a crisis. Or you may need counselling services for several months, particularly if your relationship has greatly deteriorated. As with individual counselling, the schedule of your appointments will be determined based on needs.

When can someone start the program, how does one start, and are there any prerequisites?

Couple and family counselling can begin anytime you are ready. There is no wait list at HUM and no referral is necessary. All it takes to get started is to call our office at 403-536-2480 or e-mail [email protected].

What are the costs?

Couple and family counselling is $200/session with the Registered Psychologists or Social Worker. Sessions with the medical doctor are covered by Alberta Health Care.
