Drug Addiction Counselling

At HUM, all new patients start with a comprehensive assessment, which includes outpatient drug addiction counselling. The assessment includes 3 appointments and helps determine the specific needs of the individual and tailors their treatment plan accordingly. It is recommended that all 3 appointments be done on separate days to optimize the opportunity to talk openly and honestly with each professional and learn incrementally through each interaction. A treatment plan will be developed throughout this process. By the third and final assessment appointment with the doctor, treatment recommendations will be discussed, which will include a discussion about ongoing outpatient drug addiction counselling at HUM. Referrals to external resources can be done as needed.

Drug addiction counselling at HUM includes individual and group drug counselling. Following the comprehensive assessment, the individual and the HUM team will work together to determine what type of drug addiction counselling and treatment is most suitable. Medically supervised outpatient withdrawal management and medical detoxification is available if needed to minimize risks associated with detoxification and withdrawal.
